A nebula is a community of possibility…

every circle is a journey that takes us somewhere…

Let’s expand our understanding of some of the language that is central to the Starseed Communion experience. Mother Mother invites you to dive deeper into the meaning of ringshout, fertility, starseed, and soft-time to enhance your possibilities along the flight. What is the ringshout?

Experience a juicy ringshout with Mother Mother in Gratitude Seeds Abundance: A Ringshout.

A ringshout is a reimagined portal of dream activation seeded by Mother Mother’s ancestral foremothers who were once enslaved on plantations in the American South, that takes the shape of a counterclockwise movement processional traveling through dimensions of time and space…

“The Earth is constantly spinning a ringshout around the sun. That’s what this circle is. When we make our year, 365 days—that is a ringshout around the sun. So we get to mimic these patterns in our bodies. Because the circle frequency is the pattern of life, is the pattern of love…”

Listen to this fertility sermon where Mother Mother shares stories of how she applies the ringshout technology to practical life moments, how she experiences time travel in the ringshout, and the vast possibilities that the ringshout creates for us to give and receive love across space and time.

What is fertility?

Fertility is the power to create, to birth, to bring forth. Fertility is the energy of transformation and rebirth. As creators our fertility is sourced from the eggs in our ovaries, and it can take on many forms throughout our lives. There is infinite power that we can access, even after the physical matter of our wombs has evolved beyond its bleeding and childbearing cycles. Our fertility continues to nourish and sustain us in so many ways!

WHAT IS A STARSEED?

A starseed is the physical and energetic matter of a future human being or future creation. It is the radiant life energy found within each egg that is preserved in a mother’s ovary, and from which all human life and all creations originate. A starseed is a newly forming being on its way to becoming human, or dream on its way to becoming realized in the world outside of your body.

TYPES OF STARSEEDS YOU MIGHT BE CARRYING:

  • future children you want to birth or mother

  • previous starseeds who transitioned early and who you want to celebrate and acknowledge

  • books, stories, plays, poems you want to publish/produce

  • art, dance, music, and other creations you want to make

  • workshops, programs, and classes you want to develop

  • enterprises you want to grow

  • healing you want to allow

  • relationships you want to nurture, mend, or release

  • a deeper connection with your body you want to cultivate

  • travels and adventures you want to prepare for

  • and so much more!

Starseed Communion Mapping
Throughout this ringshout journey you will deepen your relationships with your starseeds. Which of your starseeds do you want to bring into the center of your ringshout for this flight? On a blank sheet of paper, or in a sketch app on your phone, map out the starseeds that are most important for you to sit with and commune with for this ringshout. If you are not yet sure, that’ okay too! Have your preferred mapping process set up and ready to receive the insights about your starseeds as they appear and make themselves known to you. Observe the evolution of your starseed map as you discover more and more about yourself and your dreams along this journey.

What is soft-time?

The Starseed Communion is born inside the softhouse of Mother Mother’s creation methodologies. A softhouse is an intentional world for soft living, a place where softness is celebrated and practiced in community with other creators. A softhouse refuge from harshness, pressure, and acceleration.

The Starseed Communion exists fully in soft-time. Soft-time is a self-directed engagement, individually determined engagement, an “in your own time” flow.

The Starseed Communion is a soft-time practice portal, an interactive platform for self-guided, continuous engagement inside a particular practice or discovery focus that includes resources, activity prompts, recordings, and other tools to support creators in deepening in their practice at their own pace.

Language Renovation
Practice using new language to talk about your experiences, especially as it relates to time. In the Starseed Communion, “being late,” “needing to get caught up,” and “falling behind” are irrelevant terminologies. Experiment with finding softer ways to describe your interactions with these practices (and in your life in general), keeping in mind that there is no judgement, mandate, or expectations of how you engage with the Starseed Communion. This is your journey. This is your process. It need only serve you.

all dreams begin somewhere in our body…

The ringshout is a movement practice that invites you to evolve how you engage your body in the realization of your dreams. To optimize your experience in the ringshout, Mother Mother encourages you to be thoroughly warmed up, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually before going into your ringshout practice.

There are many ways to warm-up, and you are invited to warm your body up for the dance in whichever ways are a Yes for you. Mother Mother offers the 3-part Awaken, Activate, Amplify methodology for warming up for the ringshout:

Awaken | Breath: The breath is the first dance.
In this opening phase of the practice, your movements are all initiated by the breath. Consider beginning in a relaxed standing, seated, or reclining position. Everything in this moment flows from the natural power of your breathing. There is no pressure to expand or increase or intensify before your breath calls it forth. Feel into the softest, gentlest, and subtlest movements that bring greater and greater awareness to how your breath is moving through your body. Stay with this stage as long as is nourishing for you.

Activate | Spine: The spine transmits all.
When you are ready to move into the Activate phase of the practice, bring your awareness to your spine. Notice the physical space it occupies in your body, from its origins at the base of your skull to its depths in the bounty of your sacrum. Explore movements that engage the full spine: rolls, twists, bends, leans, arches, and rotations. Observe any tightness, and take time to breathe deeply into those spaces, inviting softness, breath, and space with each movement. Visualize the spinal fluid traveling up and down your spine, and radiating vital messages to all your organs, muscles, bones, and membranes. The spine is the central conduit of your body’s communication system. Is there static on your line? Dance and flush it out. Move until you feel your spine is open and clear.

Amplify | Body: The body is an extension of the divine.
Once you have found the vast circulation of your breath, and felt into the majestic power of your spinal column, your movements are ready to extend into the whole magic of your body being. In the Amplify stage your are invited to expand all the movements that have been gradually building, lengthening, and growing in the space. Experiment with moving around your space, changing directions, changing levels, and variating speeds. Keep dancing and filling up the space with the light and energy that is your beautiful, holy, and sacred body. Imagine your body emanating all your dreams, beaming your prayers into the beyond. Each movement makes more space for you, for your starseeds, for your possibilities. Be here as long as feels good and nourishing to you. When you have reached this dimension of your movement, you will be fully warmed and ready for the ringshout.

Experience the Awaken, Activate, Amplify practice with Mother Mother in this short, gentle, audio-guided introduction to the methodology.

Soundtrack | Spiral BootyMa Love Is The Way | Alice Coltrane Blue Nile | Nina Simone Here Comes The Sun (Francois K. Remix) | 9 min

The Awaken, Activate, Amplify process can be applied to any time frame. You can move through it in less than 10 minutes (like the introductory example above), or it can be a practice that you revisit over several days time, feeling slowly into into each part of the warming process. There is no “right” way to warmup. You will know when your body is warm, and your heart is open for the ringshout. For some this will take a few minutes, for others it may take a few weeks, or even longer. Trust your body, and your flow, always!

The Awaken, Activate, Amplify sequence is something you can revisit again and again for as long as you need to. Be gentle with where YOU are. The ringshout is not something we rush into; it’s not something we need to conquer. The ringshout is most effective when we are truly warm, on a soul-deep level.

Dance and warmup to African Flight, a sound study curated by Spiral BootyMa.

Soundtrack | T.Kolai Exodus | Congo | OPA African Bird | 37 min

African Flight features 3 songs that each play twice before moving to the next song. This sonic trilogy is a great partner for the Awaken, Activate, Amplify practice because you can use each song progression as a map for flowing through the movement sequences: breath, spine, full body.

It’s possible that you will evolve through those 3 stages before needing all 3 songs. Mother Mother’s invitation, and experiment, is to see what happens if you intentionally sustain presence with a certain part of your body in the warming process.

  • What do you notice when you allow your breath to initiate your movement for a sustained period of time?

  • How does your spine lengthen and become more elastic from the start of the Activate phase to the beginning of the next one?

  • Once you move into Amplify, where in your body do you feel an openness, an aliveness, that you hadn’t felt before?

The Awaken, Activate, Amplify methodology is meant to be a gentle discovery. Mother Mother invites you to practice it as often as nourishes you and to honor the flows and variations you need to really make the journey of warming up your own.

Remember, if you have your own music and your own process that always gets you all the way warmed up—flow with that! Enjoy your practice, enjoy the dance!

“The sun touching your skin is an act of love, every time.”
Mother Mother is inspired by the sun’s long labors of creating and sharing its energy with the Earth. She imagines the many movements of matter and solar particles that collaborate for the phenomenon that is heat and light. She interprets the sun’s actions as a devotion of love and sustenance for us all. This joy and gratitude sparks movement explorations that experiment with circles, continuity, reaching, expansion, fusion, and spinning.

How you tell your story is how you live your life…

The Starseed Communion is a radical opportunity to really sit with the stories we are telling ourselves about our lives. The ringshout is a revelatory sojourn that brings you into the heart of your truths, your hurts, your dreams, your prayers. Mother Mother invites you to prepare your heart for the ringshout by sitting with these question spheres.

In whichever ways feel best to you, process and unpack what comes up for with each question. Journal, record a voice note, draw a picture, talk a walk with the trees, dance it out as part of your warming up process—however it feels natural and generative for you, be with these self-inquiries in a true and honest practice with yourself. These questions are not meant to be answered all at once, or even all ever. Be with the questions that most serve your heart expansions and creation flows. Come back to this portal throughout the flight and observe what emerges and evolves throughout your process. You know your heart, you know your way.

From where am I entering this ringshout?
This question is an invitation to take a spherical 360 degree look at your life, and acknowledge all the movements, moments, and choices that have brought you to this now. Imagine yourself at the center of your lived/embodied experiences. Consider that the past, present, and future all swirl around you in one dazzling orbit of time and possibility.

  • What do you see when you look out, look back, look above, and look below?

  • What pathways have shaped you and formed the realties that you call your Now?

  • What threads are unraveling from your past selves or coming together for your future selves?

Where am I in the story of my life?
This question welcomes your full presence for your life in this now moment. What words, images, and sensations ring loudest and truest for you at this moment in time? Make a list of these words. Circle the words that make you feel expansive. Notice the words that sting or make you feel small, and put a notation of the feelings that arise for further explorations. For each word you circled, do a free write or record a stream of consciousness conversation with yourself, capturing whatever else emerges from sitting with that language. Let this be a self-checkin that you do daily, or weekly, or as often as nourishes your practice.

  • Consider how each word on your list impacts you and informs your day-to-day realities.

  • Come back to this question as often as it serves you, especially as you journey into the ringshout practices.

  • See what shifts and dissolves in the labor of narrating your story: Which words stay? Which words go? What new words arise?

Am I living inside my story (or somebody else’s)?
Everything we are holding, believing, and centering is amplified in the ringshout. It is essential for the generativeness of your ringshout that you be clear about whether or not you are radiating your own truths or someone else’s narratives about who/what/how you should be.

Truth expands. Lies constrict. If ever you are in doubt about what is true for you, notice how you feel in your body when you say/hear those things about you. Revisit the narratives you have been telling yourself about your life. Bring each one into view and pay attention to what part of your body responds to that particular story.

  • Does anything tingle, sting, pulse, or stir within at the thought of this story?

  • Does a certain person in your life and their specific language come to the forefront before your own?

  • Do you feel good when you tell yourself this story about yourself?

  • Do you feel seen, inside your own words?

something is always being born…

there is only space between the now and the then…

The Starseed Communion is an opportunity to create space in your life for movement, for creating, for dreaming! Whether you are making more physical space, more energetic space, or more mental space—it’s all going to support you in actualizing a deeply generative ringshout practice. Consider where in your life you want to experience more space:

  • How do you feel in your home space? Can you dance here? Do you feel inspired to write/draw/create/sing/make new things in this space?

  • Where do you capture your stories? How do you honor your words? Do you use journals, or a notes app on your phone? Do you have a clear and easily-accessible space to write when you need to? Do you love pens or prefer pencils? Are you into lines, or unlined, or something altogether different?

  • How do you want to document what comes up for you in the ringshout? Will you take pictures or film yourself dancing? Will you leave yourself voice notes after each practice?

  • How will you remember what is born from your ringshout? What are all the ways you want to make space for this exploration?

  • What nourishment rhythms support you in feeling most connected to your body? What herbs, teas, fruits, and other nutrients make you feel alive and well? How is your hydration? How are your eliminations? How can your body be as spacious as possible on the inside?

There are so many different ways to make space for our creations. The ringshout will aid you in creating more and more space for the cultivation of your starseeds. Sometimes we feel there’s too little space in our lives for pouring into what we most feel called to do. If this is where you are right now, be encouraged that you can still access so much from your practice AS YOU ARE RIGHT NOW! You are bountiful and magical as you are! The Starseed Communion will be a process for you to discover the infinite magic of your tiniest moments, your subtlest vibrations, your barely visible ideas as they emerge from your warm, liberated, and moving body. The space is here for you, and your ringshout will bring you into greater capacities to realize the fullness of the spaces within and around you.

Practice opportunity

Making Space
Prepare your living space, your body space, and your laboratory space for the ringshout.

Living Space
Throw away any clutter or take giveaways to the thrift store. Determine the most inspiring spaces for you to practice your dance: is it in your bedroom, or your backyard, or at the park, by the sea? Do you want to move with the sunrise, or when it’s dark and the house is asleep? Discover your optimal movement and creation settings, and prepare those spaces for this ringshout practice.

Body Space
Drink lots of water and eat foods that raise your vibration. Abstain from anything that makes you feel weighty, sluggish, or constipated. Observe the flow of your digestive rhythms, and use your movements and warming process to stay soft, fluid, and open in your body.

Laboratory Space
Gather your journals or other writing tools. Delete old files or open a new folder to store your writing and recordings. Experiment with the best camera angles, and determine if and when you want to capture your process with photo or film. Get your music playlists sorted out, and have an assortment of sonic libations ready at your fingertips for whenever you’re ready to move. Remember your Starseed Map? Post it up somewhere in your ringshout space so that you have visual echoes of all you’re calling forth. Add candles, flowers, bowls of water, altars, or anything else you feel will make your space most optimal for your ringshout practice.
