Ringshouts

Ringshouts are counterclockwise dance processionals that Mother Mother reimagines from their origins as rituals performed by ancestral Africans who were enslaved in the Americas. Ringshouts were once activated on plantations as spiritual portals for revival and transformation. In this collection Mother Mother features videos of ringshout progressions, talks about the history and applications of ringshout as an afrofuturist time traveling practice, shares movement sermons inspired by ringshouts, and introduces more ringshout practices that she has developed for Dancing Mother.

Fertility & BIRTH

Mother Mother shares sermons, movement studies, writings, and recordings that center her evolution as a fertility priestess, her years of service to mothers in her village as a midwife of the long labor, and her devoted labors as a fertility revivalist. In this collection Mother Mother features the stories and practices that grew into protostar birth consciousness, fertility talks about recovering faith in our fertility after grief, despair, and doubt, and further teachings about how our star systems correlate to the magic of fertility in our bodies.

Sacred Nourishment

Mother Mother relanguaged the labor of nourishing babies from her body as sacred nourishment. She affirms that this labor is a holy expansion of the same divine creation intelligence that grows our babies in our wombs, and that is perfectly coded to continue nurturing our earthside babies with milk—milk made by our whole bodies—as their newborn, toddler, and young child bodies are developing and discovering the world. Mother Mother offers wisdom and teachings born of her 12+ years of nourishing one or more babies at her breast daily, especially as it relates to tandem nursing, nursing while sitting with possibilities (growing a new life in the womb), reconfiguring nursing rhythms (also called “weaning”) with older children, and creating a soft life that supports a generative, joyful, and sustainable sacred nourishment practice for mama, baby, and family.

Sunrise Communions

Witness Mother Mother inside the holy sunrise communions that have been a conscious part of her fertility priestess work since her initiation in 2016. These early morning movement rituals are central to Mother Mother’s birthing moments and restore essential breath for her mothering labors. The movements emerging from sunrise communions also seed many of Mother Mother’s life scriptures that she then expands into movement sermons.

Take in a soft-time performance of Mother Mother (and the munchkins most times, too) activating all kinds of spaces with movement explorations. Watch the dances and listen to Mother Mother’s post-performance syntheses of these magical, organic, and fluid encounters with spaces, public and private, brief and long-winding.

Protostar birth consciousness

A protostar is a star on its way to becoming. Just as all stars don’t continue to become as large and full and bright as the sun, some starseeds don’t continue their journey toward becoming fully human. We call these birthing moments, protostar births. The protostar birth consciousness collection offer gentle discoveries, invitations, and reflections and teachings from Mother Mother’s personal protostar birthing moments. This collection is especially for mothers wanting to heal their relationship to their fertility after a protostar birth, and recover their fertility radiance for future birthing moments.

Mother Mother shares pieces of the journey from living as an afrofuturist bush mama and raising her children “in the wild” where they can center freedom, joy, and curiosity as integral to all learning. Mother Mother offers deep reflections and personal evolutions with discovering kinetic learning, and takes us inside experiments and processes to design intelligent learning spaces for her children that support their natural need to move their bodies.

mothering artists workshops

Mother Mother shares practices and creative tools for mothering artists who want to deepen into themselves as artists, and who are expanding the daily realities of their meaningful engagements with their artistry. Spanning more than two decades of facilitation, space holding, and community organizing, Mother Mother offers soft-time workshop experiences for creatives at any stage of their discovery. This collection features workshops and practices from the New Mommy Writers Workshop, the Mothering Gourd, the Mothers Writing Lab, and the Fertility Abundance Garden, the Daily Dancer, and the Open Studio.
