Archiving is essentially afrofuturist mothering magic…

Mother Mother remembers herself and her creations with great care. With each new piece added to the archive, she codes a part of herself forward for the future generations. She consciously sifts, gathers, documents, and assembles each element in the Library with love and gratitude. She builds this world of memory for the mothers and creators of tomorrow to witness, explore, and engage with her life and her work with tender presence, joy, and curiosity.

Mother Mother’s archival majesties span more than 2 decades of living, dancing, birthing, mothering and more. The archive includes

  • videos of performance, practice, and communions

  • audio recordings from acorn sermons, talks, and stories

  • photographs and screen stills, and photo essays

  • text featuring autobiographical essays, fiction, and nonfiction

The Library is a curated gallery and soft-time archival portal where members are welcome to explore Mother Mother’s collections. How to get a library card

STEP 1
Initiate your Library membership with a monthly or annual donation at the Giving Well. Choose your membership type:

MONTHLY Membership:

  • ONE check out per month

  • monthly donation of $10 or more OR

  • annual donation of $100 or more

WEEKLY Membership

  • ONE check out per week

  • monthly donation of $40 or more OR

  • annual donation of $400 or more

Length of loans from the Library

  • Enjoy access to each checked out Library selection for 5 days.

STEP 2
Complete new member profile (below) AFTER you initiate your membership by making a donation for your membership type at the Giving Well.

STEP 3
Once your complete registration and selected donation for membership has been received, you will receive a confirmation of your Library membership and more details about how to request materials for check out.
